GENERAL

What is your check-in and check-out times?

Check in is from 2pm and check out is at 10am.

What does it cost to check-in early?

If you are arriving just an hour or so early there is no charge but if you want to check-in before midday there would be a $20-$30 surcharge and will be subject to availability.

What does it cost for a late check-out?

Up till 2pm is a $10 per hour surcharge and subject to availability.  Check out as late as 6pm is 50% of the room rate paid and subject to availability.

Is your reception open 24 hours?

No.  Our reception open hours are 8am to 9pm.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Mastercard, Visa, EFTPOS and cash.  We do not accept Diners Club, American Express or cheques.

My plane arrives after 8pm. Is there any way to check in? Can I check in after hours?

Yes! Let us know when you book and your key will be in the lock box by the office door and we will send an email or text with the lock box code.

I’m leaving early, what do I do with the room key?

Lock your room door and put the key in the drop box by the office door.

How far are you from Airport?

Airways Motel is 4km from Christchurch International Airport main terminal building.

Is there a free Airport Shuttle?

Yes! Airways Motel free shuttle operates 8am-8pm to the airport and the Mustang Park vehicle rental hub area. Early morning shuttles to the airport are subject to availability and conditions.

Where do I get the free Airways Motel shuttle at the airport?

The shuttle pickup / drop off area is outside of doors 1 and 2 of the main terminal building.

Can I walk from the airport to Airways Motel?

Yes! It is possible to walk along Russley Road but few actually do it due to the traffic volumes and lack of a dedicated footpath. Best to make use of the free shuttle.

Can I bus from the airport after the shuttle stops at 8pm?

Yes! After the motel shuttle stops at 8pm, the Metro bus route 125 leaves from the airport to the motel (stops right outside) at 8.24pm, 8.54pm, 9.24pm, 10.24pm). The fare is $8.50 (child $4.90) and takes approx. 12 minutes. Get off at Russley Rd near Dinton St (ask the driver for help).

How much is a taxi to the airport?

Taxis from the airport to Airways Motel rarely cost less than $30. Ride share is $16 to $18.

Can I walk to a shop?

There is a Z Shop 24/7 convenience store at the Z service station just 50m away.

Can I walk to a restaurant close to the Airways Motel?

The local fish ‘n chip shop is a 800 metre walk.
MacDonald’s is a 900 metre walk.
The closest restaurant (One Good Horse) is a 2.1km walk.

Can I drive to a restaurant close to Airways Motel?

Areas with restaurants within a 5 minute drive are; Spitfire Square, The Hub (Hornby Mall) vicinity, Upper Riccarton vicinity.

Is food delivery available?

Yes! The local indian and Thai restaurants and pizza will take a phone order and deliver.

Uber Eats is available but a local version “Give me Bread” also delivers groceries, prescriptions, gifts vouchers and alcoholic beverages.

Is there car rental close by?

Yes! At the airport and the nearby Mustang Park vehicle rental hub. Make use of our free shuttle service to get there.

Can I catch a bus close by?

Yes! The Metro Christchurch bus stop is outside the motel. The 140 bus goes into the city and the 125 goes to the airport. Buses run twice an hour in general.

Can I bus from the city centre to Airways Motel?

Yes! From the central Bus Interchange, catch the Yellow Line to Rolleston via Hornby and get off at Church Corner. Transfer to route 140 Russley/Mt Pleasant to Russley & Hornby and get off at Russley Rd near Dinton St (ask the driver for help). Cost $4.20 (child $2.40) and takes approx. 40 minutes.

I love skiing, how far is Airways Motel located from Mount Hutt?

Mt. Hutt’s ski slopes are a mere 102km (90 minutes) drive from Airways Motel.

Is there a skifield shuttle pickup point close to Airways Motel?

Yes, Snowman Shuttles picks up at 7.30am from the Z service station just 50m away from the Motel.

FACILITIES/SERVICES

Will my room have a kitchen sink?

Queen Studio and Triple Studio do not have a kitchen sink. King / Twin Studio, Disability Studio, 1 Bedroom with Bathtub and Family 1 Bedroom do have a kitchen sink.

Will my room have an iron and iron board?

King/Twin Studio and 1 Bedroom with Bathtub do have an iron and iron board. Queen Studio, Triple Studio, Family 1 Bedroom and Disability studio do not so use the communal ironing facilities in the guest laundry.

Will my room have a microwave, jug and toaster?

Yes! All rooms have microwave, jug and toaster.

Do you have a hairdryer in each room?

Yes.

Do you have air con?

No.

Do you have heaters?

Yes.

Is my room on the ground floor?

King/Twin Studio, on the ground floor and first floor.

Family 1 Bedroom Unit, Disability Studio and Triple Studio are on the ground floor.

Queen Studio are only on the upper level.

Is Airways Motel accessible?

Yes. The Motel offers wheelchair access and reduced mobility rooms. For specific enquiries, we recommend calling ahead to confirm.

Do you have security cameras?

Yes! Security cameras record movement on site.

Is there an elevator?

No.

Do you have free parking?

Yes, Airways Motel has ample free car parking. One car park per unit is guaranteed. Parking for trailers, trucks and campervans etc is subject to availability. Please enquire when booking.

Can I leave my vehicle while I go on holiday?

Yes! Our Park ‘n Fly service is $5 per day when you stay one night at either end of your holiday. Leaving the car key at reception is required. The airport shuttle, if required is $10 for the night you do not stay.

What SKY TV channels do you offer?

We have the SKY Entertainment and Sports package.

Do you offer breakfast?

Airways Breakfast is either continental ($3 per item) or cooked ($20 choose 5 of 9 menu items). Breakfast can also be arranged on arrival.

Do you have free wifi?

Yes!

Do you have baby beds (cot) and high chairs?

Baby beds (cot) and highchairs can be provided, but are subject to availability and a charge.

What are the charges for baby beds (cots) and highchairs?

Baby beds (cots) are $10 per night. There is no charge for high chairs.

POLICY

What is your covid-19 cancellation policy?

Cancellations as a result of a NZ government enforced lockdown that restricts movement either into or out of Christchurch will not attract cancellation charges.

What is your non covid cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice prior to 12 noon of the date of your arrival for all cancellations. Failure to cancel within the specified notice period will result in up to two nights accommodation being charged to the credit card provided as security for your booking. If you fail to arrive without notification (no show) you will be charged up to two nights accommodation. If your booking was for more than 3 nights and you fail to arrive, you may be charged up to 50% of the total booking amount. Be sure to confirm the cancellation policy on your booking confirmation.

Are all rooms non-smoking rooms?

Smoking is not allowed in any of our Motel rooms.

What does smoke free mean?

Our rooms are smoke free.  Smoking on balconies and other areas is allowed.

Are children welcome?

Children of all ages are welcome.

Are pets allowed?

No, pets are not allowed.

Is there a charge for children staying?

Children below the age of 2 stay free when using existing bedding. Children above the age of 2 will be charged the extra person charge of $20. Children above the age of 2 are included in the maximum occupancy of all rooms.

Is there a visitor policy?

Visitors are permitted at the discretion of management and must leave when requested. Any visitors onsite must depart by 10.00pm. We reserve the right to charge as ‘extra persons’ any visitors on site after 10.00pm. Parties and large groups are not permitted.
