Being an Airport Motel, we offer the Airways Motel Airport Shuttle. Here’s how it works, and how it doesn’t work sometimes!!

Christchurch International Airport gives us “exclusive access” and while there are financial implications it’s better than the public 2 minute drop off/pick up option where there can be a rather long wait at peak times! Our “exclusive access” is limited to the rotary outside doors 1 & 2. There are 3 other rotaries at the airport, which can be confusing, but our “exclusive access” rotary is the one outside doors 1 & 2.

Christchurch airport has 9 doors, numbered 1 to 9, and there are numbers on the doors which are easily visible from both the inside and outside. Those arriving from overseas, or collecting luggage from the domestic baggage claim area are near doors 7 & 8, so it’s just a short walk round to doors 1 & 2. Those arriving on a regional flight are already there.

Our “exclusive access” rotary can get pretty shuttle crowded at certain times of the day and it can sometimes be hard to spot the Airways Motel Shuttle. It’s easy if we get the front spot, but sometimes we can be down the back, somewhat hidden by some of the larger shuttle vehicles.

90% of the time the Airways Motel Shuttle stops at the middle island (as opposed to the outside lanes either close to the large Air New Zealand sign or the multi-story car parking building). The middle island is the one with the 3 bus stop shelters.

So yes, the best way to achieve a hassle-free Airways Motel shuttle airport pick up experience is to wait at one of the bus stop shelters on the middle island, rather than in front of the terminal building.

That’s how to Airways Motel Shuttle at Christchurch Airport!
